Grain Free Puppy Food
Teepee puppy food is a veterinary approved and complete grain free diet. It is steam cooked and uses Sweet Potato as a highly digestible carbohydrate source. As a result it is suitable for pets with a grain intolerance or sensitivity. In addition, sweet potato has a lower Glycaemic Index (GI) rating than white potato. This can help control blood sugar levels. Moreover, Teepee Grain Free Puppy food is made without dairy, soya, beef or eggs to further aid digestion.
Mixed Protein Recipe
60% meat content comprising of Chicken, Turkey & Salmon. By using three different protein sources, our grain free puppy food may actually help to prevent food sensitivity later in life. This is supported by the research of Dr. Jean Dodds*:
“Feeding our pets a restricted diet for months or years creates an environment inside their guts where any new food is considered a foreign invader, and the bacteria don’t know what to do with it. This often results in the gas, bloating and loose stools that perplex so many well-intentioned pet parents as they seek to “transition” their four-legged companions from one food to another.
Single formula diets promote nutritional inadequacy.
No one dietary formula, no matter how “complete and balanced” it is, can meet all of an animal’s nutritional needs over an extended period.
Think of some of the healthiest foods in the world — let’s say spinach, wild salmon, sweet potatoes and blueberries. Eating these foods would provide an excellent protein source as well as a wide variety of phytonutrients. But, eaten every day, even these healthy foods will create nutritional deficiencies over time.”
Made for Puppies
Puppies have high energy requirements! A lot of growth is done in those early months. Sometimes they seem to grow before your eyes! To support this, Teepee puppy food uses balanced levels of protein and fat. This is to maintain a steady growth rate. Therefore helping to ensure the strong development of your puppy’s skeleton. In addition, it is highly digestible and energy dense to meet a puppies high energy requirements. Moreover, balanced Calcium and Phosphorus levels help the development of strong teeth and bones.
Growing puppies have growing joints. With that in mind, Glucosamine, Chondroitin and MSM are added to support healthy joint development. Salmon Oil is a rich source of Omega 3. Omega 3 not only supports joints, it also improves brain, eye and skin development. Whilst the addition of pre-biotic MOS and FOS promote the growth of healthy gut bacteria.
Sugar Beet is a natural source of dietary fibre. This is important for maintaining normal digestive motions. Furthermore, there are no added artificial colours, flavours or preservatives. Teepee puppy food is naturally preserved.
In Conclusion, Teepee Grain Free puppy food is a great way to feed a hypoallergenic diet without the high cost often associated with such foods. The quality and digestibility of the ingredients means lower feeding quantities. This means less waste. In other words, less poo!
All bags of Teepee Grain Free puppy food come with suggested feeding quantities. Please note though, these are purely a guide. They cannot account for the following:
- individual breed
- metabolic rate
- level of activity
- specific age of the dog
- sex of the dog
- ambient living temperature etc
All of these factors will affect how much food your dog needs. No matter how good a food, feeding too much will invariable lead to poor digestion/diarrhoea and ultimately weight gain. Too little will affect development of growing puppies and the ability to maintain a healthy weight.
Young and growing puppies require higher amounts of food. As your puppy grows and gets closer to adulthood, it is normal to gradually reduce their daily feeding amount. This is to account for the fact that their rate of growth is slowing down and will eventually stop.
During this period, you may find that they start to ‘go off’ their food. In other words they become fussy. This often starts around 6-10 months old (depending on breed). Furthermore, this lack of interest in food can also coincide with their poo becoming a bit softer than normal. In addition, they may also start to poo more often. These can all be symptoms of over feeding. As mentioned before, the feeding guide will only give an average feeding quantity. Therefore, make changes as required in a small and gradual manner.
